An overbite is characterized by your top teeth overlapping with your bottom teeth, and an underbite is the opposite. A crossbite is when some of your top teeth rest inside your lower teeth. Health Risks Associated With Underbites/Overbites
Tooth Wear
Individuals with an overbite or underbite are more likely to develop moderate to severe enamel chipping and wear. An incorrect bite causes damage to tooth structure and can wear down the hard protective outer layer of teeth.
